Text reading "A TRUE STORY OF HIGH MAGICK" with a shadowed, 3D effect.

Empire Vertigo is a true story about reclaiming personal power after difficult experiences through the practice and understanding of High Magick. Told as an online hybrid graphic novel, it was created, written and illustrated by Adelaide Filippe.

Based on Filippe’s lived experience, it follows a young woman who leaves Christianity and turns to High Magick in an attempt to transform her life, only to discover that authentic transformation requires confronting the fear, self-betrayal and patterns of displaced power she had been running from.

Through visual storytelling, Empire Vertigo explores religious conditioning, power, survival and self-betrayal. The project offers a grounded, non-performative look at Western esoteric traditions and how we abandon ourselves in order to survive or belong.
